A strategic sourcing to SAP transition portfolio should include a real, anonymized sourcing decision, a labelled conceptual SAP process map, a control checklist and an honest record of SAP learning. Identify which parts came from professional work and which are simulations or study. Never claim live SAP configuration or implementation experience that you do not have.
Begin with sourcing experience you can defend
Choose a supplier evaluation, RFx, negotiation or category strategy example that you genuinely supported. Explain the original demand, constraints, options, trade-offs, approvers and decision evidence. Remove supplier names, contract prices and confidential customer data unless disclosure is expressly authorized. The strongest case is not necessarily the biggest savings number: it is the case where your reasoning and accountability are clearest.
Bridge the case to SAP without inventing project work
Map demand and sourcing-event preparation to supplier responses, evaluation, award and handoff to contracts or operational purchasing where applicable. SAP Ariba Sourcing provides sourcing events, projects and award analysis, but a generic diagram does not prove experience using those features. Label the map as a conceptual process illustration if it was built from public learning materials. Explain which underlying decisions are familiar and which product behaviors require more study.
Four purposeful portfolio artifacts
Decision note: a concise account of the commercial choice. Process map: where sourcing events and ERP purchasing connect. Control evidence: approvals, supplier data ownership, confidentiality and risk handling. Reflection: SAP capabilities practiced, concepts still theoretical and a specific plan to close gaps. Avoid copied learning slides and fake screenshots.
Example: award depends on risk sign-off
A team evaluates four qualified suppliers but needs compliance approval before award. Show the scorecard criteria, decision responsibility and the evidence required to authorize the award. If you did not operate an SAP Ariba instance, say so. A portfolio can demonstrate business analysis and process understanding without claiming unsupported consulting credentials.
